There is always holiday magic this time of the year – communities throughout Louisville celebrating merriment with neighbors and friends. For the past 27 years, the Highlands neighborhood has kicked off the first Saturday in December?with the support all of our small business neighbors in the Highlands.

This year’s Bardstown Road Aglow is no different!

Boutiques, eateries and businesses all along Bardstown Road, Baxter Avenue and the Douglass Loop open their doors offering entertainment, food, drinks, discounts and live entertainment.

Bardstown Road Aglow is tagged as an ?open house? celebration, with this festival of shopping, eating, drinking and merriment – just as it has for the past 27 years while lighting up the Highlands with a day of family fun.

The event kicks off officially at 5 p.m. on Saturday and runs until 10 p.m. that evening.?You can expect:

  • live entertainment at multiple points along the road
  • deals on food and drink
  • two trolleys to catch for rides up and down the strip
  • beautiful storefronts decorated beautifully to compete in the neighborhood decorating contest

Four Roses Bourbon is hosting the Aglow’s third-annual Holiday Cocktail Contest, taking place in several restaurants and bars (buy one and place your vote), and he Highland Commerce Guild?will present the annual lighting of the Highlands Holiday Tree at Wendy’s (at the corner of Bardstown and Grinstead Dr.) at 5:30 p.m.

Santa will be in the house, specifically at Bearno’s in the Highlands for the Park Community Credit UnionWinter Wonderland at 6 p.m. Get your picture taken with Santa with proceeds donated to The Gilda’s Club of Louisville.

Dirty Tease T-shirts also will donate $5 for every official AGLOW shirt (featuring artwork by local artist, David Green) purchased that day.
